How To Get Fortnite’s New Free PS Plus Exclusive Skin

Fortnite is giving away a free skin to PlayStation Plus players as part of an ongoing agreement with Sony, it seems. The skin was datamined this morning by iFiremonkey, and now it’s starting to roll out worldwide starting with New Zealand, and making its way elsewhere.

The skin is called Point Patroller, and is in traditional PlayStation 4 blue/silver/black colors. It also comes with back bling, Recon Strike.

Like we’ve usually seen with these console/device specific skins, it’s not really anything to write home about. It’s just a guy in typical Fortnite-futuristic clothing matching the color scheme of PlayStation.

Still, exclusive skins are coveted in Fortnite because it literally means a huge chunk of the playerbase can’t have them if they don’t play on X or Y hardware. That’s been the case with many exclusive skins in the past, and it could be true with this one.

So, how do you get it?

It’s possible Epic will simply reward you with the skin when you log on, as sometimes that happens. But if not, you will probably have to navigate to the Fortnite page of the PlayStation store and go to the “add ons” page.

If it’s available, it will be listed and all you have to do is click and download it for free. Going there now, even though I do not see the skin live in the US yet, there is a past PS Plus skin there I can see I forgot to grab back in December, so this appears to be an ongoing thing Sony and Epic are doing. That’s the only other free item I see there right now, and the Iris skin pack is there for $5, along with the usual V-buck bundles.

This should be live sometime in the next day, but judging by the last skin release, you will have a while to grab it if you want, and you don’t have to do it in a particularly limited window of time. But just to be safe, probably grab it by the end of this season.

Not a great skin, but a must-have if you’re a collector who is trying to snag as many as you can. Stay tuned for the release.
