'Fortnite' Update 11.50 Unvaults Launch Pad, Adds Love & War Challenges - Patch Notes

Fortnite update 11.50 is finally live to unvault the Launch Pad, add a new physics system and implement a fresh series of cosmetic challenges in time for Valentine's Day. Per usual, the news arrives courtesy of an Epic Games blog post. Read the full patch notes below.

  • The new event starts soon! Check back here later today for more details.
  • In non-competitive playlists, the Launch Pad has been unvaulted.
  • Implemented Unreal Engine's Chaos physics system, mentioned previously here.
  • At launch, our goal is to ensure that Fortnite still feels like what you would expect. We'll be closely monitoring your feedback from the in-game Feedback tool for any issues you may be experiencing.
  • To report issues via the in-game Feedback tool, select Feedback in the main menu and choose Bug. We encourage you to put "Physics" in the subject line and include a concise message in the body that accurately describes the issue(s) you're experiencing.
  • Bug fixes:

  • Resolved an issue involving some players' completion of the "Search chests in a single match" Chaos Rising Challenge not being saved.
  • The "Earn Gold Scavenger Medals" Rippley vs. Sludge Overtime Challenge now tracks progress properly.
  • The Sidegrading feature is no longer present in competitive playlists. Its presence in these playlists was unintentional, as noted in our v11.40 post.
  • Resolved an issue involving new players on consoles having difficulty matchmaking after first linking their Epic account.
  • Addressed reports of iOS players activating their device's swipe-up feature when trying to press inventory buttons.
  • The biggest gameplay-focused feature of Fortnite update 11.50 is, of course, the return of the Launch Pad. While available prior to the launch of Fortnite Chapter 2, the high-flying item originally caught the eye of developers who felt the trap gave players too much mobility to escape conflict. Following recent comments from community members about the apparent lack of combat mobility in Chapter 2, Epic has worked the item back into the rotation.

While not officially listed here, patch 11.50 also adds the Love and War Challenge set, which is expected to debut later today. Leaks tell us the challenges will be mostly skill-based and focused on the Search and Destroy game mode. Beyond that, players won't be searching for anything special or heading to unique attractions. By completing these tasks, players will be able to earn free cosmetic rewards like emotes, sprays and Back Blings. For the most part, this event is the most exciting thing about update 11.50.

Fortnite is available now on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC and mobile.
