No plans for New Year's Eve? One option: Ring in 2020 in Fortnite. Developer Epic Games will kick off a little celebration in the game, and players won't have to wait until midnight.
At the top of every hour on Tuesday, a giant disco ball will appear above the island, similar to the ball drop in Times Square. Then, once the ball falls, there'll be music, fireworks and plenty of dancing. This will keep going every hour until every country has its own New Year's Fortnite celebration.
One Reddit user posted a video of the short celebration on the Fortnite subreddit.
This year has been a big one for Fortnite. It saw the second annual World Cup, which had a $3 million grand prize (won by Kyle "Bugha" Giersdorf). There were also multiple crossovers with popular movies and shows, such as John Wick, Stranger Things and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. And then there was that little event where the game was turned off for 40 hours after a black hole sucked in all of existence, thus kicking off Fortnite Chapter 2.
