Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 2 has an official start-date.
Credit: EpicEpic Games have finally announced the official end-date for this extremely long season. Theyâve also provided some reasoning behind the delay and what we can expect while we wait.
The official end-date for Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 1 is Thursday, February 20th. Thatâs also the official start-date for Chapter 2, Season 2.
The reason for the delay? Epic Games is moving the game onto the Unreal Engineâs Chaos physics engine. Thatâs a major overhaul that will be implemented in early February with the v11.50 update. Expect a lot of fancy physics and a more interactive world.
âBeginning with the release of the 11.50 update in early February, Fortnite will be moving to Unreal Engineâs Chaos physics engine,â the company wrote in an update on the Fortnite blog. âAt launch, the goal is to ensure that Fortnite still feels like Fortnite. Along the way there will be some bumps, so weâre starting tests with a small group of players. Weâll also closely monitor feedback and make improvements over time.â
In the meantime, between now and February 20th, there will be more Overtime Challenges and an unspecified two-week event. Thereâs also some redacted teasers in the blog post because Epic says theyâre not ready to reveal all of Season 2âs secrets just yet. Letâs just hope we donât have any more of these ridiculous locked challenges.
