Fortnite
EpicWe are nearing the end of season 10 of Fortnite, and everyone is bracing for what should be the gameâs biggest change yet, either a completely new map or a heavily modified version of the old one. But before that, we have a new mini patch, v10.40.1, which brings a few different changes.
Unvaulting
For reasons that remain unclear, Epic has decided to unvault the Flint-Knock Pistol. Itâs a fun weapon, but they donât seem to have retooled it in any way according to these patch notes, and I guess they justâ¦wanted it back for some reason?
Zone Wars
I guess it was too confusing to have four different Zone Wars playlists, so theyâre being condensed into two for Solos and Parties, where you will head into one of the four Zone Wars maps at random instead of being able to pick. Maybe it was an issue with population or something.
Season X Extension
Well this is sort of weird. For some reason there have only been nine listed weeks of challenges for Season X since the start. Those end tomorrow, but there does not seem to be a week 10 of challenges arriving. Rather, we are moving straight into âOut of Timeâ overtime challenges which have us collecting a few visitor recordings around the map and not doing much else (there is no prestige/normal challenge split, and fewer challenges overall). This patch brings the news that these challenges will arrive Tuesday, October 8 and run until Sunday, October 13 which appears to be the official end of the season. Thatâs our first confirmation of that, and many are now predicting that Sunday may be the âeventâ day where the new rocket launches and blows up the map or warps it into a parallel universe or whatever the hell is supposed to happen.
The ending of this season seems like a bit of a scramble to me, as I still donât really understand why week 10 just doesnât exist at all, as that hasnât happened for as long as I can remember. Now we have dead time until Tuesday, then a few mini challenges leading up to whatever happens Sunday. Assuming that is when something happens. Pretty weird.
I am looking forward to Fortnite hopefully getting a new map or at least significantly changing its current one past a new zone or two. If Apex Legends can roll out an entirely new map in season 3, Fortnite can do it in season 11.
